Day by day descriptions:

Day 1: From old to nowadays

We start our discovery tour with climbing up to the 405m high Citadels Hill. The Habsburgs have built this fortification in the 18th century, back then it had a defensive role. In the communist era all the old buildings were demolished for the construction of a modern hotel. On a dizzying height you may drink a coffee or a refresher at Pergola Terrace. From here you can admire the breathtaking panorama of the city. After a delicious lunch in a pub called Bulgakov you may visit the St. Michael’s Cathedral, a remarkable historical monument built in 1316. The square is dominated by the king Matthias Corvinus’s equestrian statue. Later in the afternoon you may stroll through the city center with many cozy little restaurants, welcoming shops, beautiful old buildings and promenades.

Day 2: Old meets modern

Cluj- Napoca was a fortified city since the 12th century. There is a pedestrian area near the city wall. Its corners and gates were fortified with 20 bastions and defense towers. With this Cluj had the status of a free royal town (urban republic). A walk through the central part of the city will help you become familiar with both the old and new Cluj. After lunch we invite you to a walk around, to see the most important Renaissance and Baroque monuments of secular architecture in Transylvania. After diner you may spend an enjoyable evening attending one of the many concerts or other cultural events. Or you prefer to discover Cluj-Napoca’s night life? There are plenty of possibilities.

Day 3. Outdoor – the green city

Only a few hundred meters from the center, the Botanical Garden is an amazing green oasis with a thousand species of plants. Main attractions are the Japanese Garden, the Roman Garden and the Greenhouses where you can admire the beauty of a real jungle. After a lunch break we will visit the National Ethnographic Park where you can feel like in the ancient days. If you like some creepy experience, take a walk with us in the Hazsongard Cemetry, a veritable open air museum which shelters the town’s dead elite for more than four centuries. If you prefer a lighter ambience, the Central Park offers you nice outdoor entertainment. Be happy like a child and take a ride with a boat or hydro bicycle.
